As the "third" volume of Armored Core rolls, a catastrophic
tempest on the Martian surface forces the denizens of the planet below the
crust. A mole-like existence awaits those who are borne into the new world
but aspiring peons and drudges are able to pull themselves up by their
bootstraps by joining the ranks of the Ravens. Mercenaries by trade,
Ravens bear the crest of whoever's willing to pay top dollar for their
services. Most eager to pay are the faceless and, by default, sinister
corporations which jockey for control of the Martian subsurface.
Similar to previous incarnations on the PS1 and PS2, Armored
Core places players in control of a mechanical marauder. Outfit your bot
with a dizzying array of parts and loose it into missions of targeted
destruction. New wrinkles to the gameplay include armored back-up in the
form of fellow mechs, flighty mini-tanks, and even air support (showering
ordnance from the heavens). New robot attachments called "Exceed
Orbits" hover around your mech's general vicinity and supply
additional firepower or defensive functions.
