PS2 PREORDER: Auto Modellista   JAPAN   Aug 22   BUY
Capcom's first ride into the racing genre (No, Speed Rumbler circa 1986 doesn't count) promises a more ambitious effort than Square's bow behind the wheel with Driving Emotion. From the cars to the environment, everything's cel-shaded and highly distinctive looking. In addition to racing on 10 tracks which vary from suburban roads to rainy night cities, players may upgrade their vehicles with booster parts, wings, and even decals. Yes, decals. Of course, everyone knows a towering spoiler or a Neuspeed sticker will enhance the performance of your street rocket. The Playstation 2 version of Auto Modellista ships on August 22 and a Gamecube conversion is expected in the fall.

XBX PREORDER: Tekki   JAPAN   Aug 22   BUY
A few years ago, Sega released VOOT for the Dreamcast along with a Twinstick controller. Slightly larger but much taller than a standard joystick, we figured that the Twinstick was as big as special controllers would get. In addition to logistical problems when shipping or storing special controllers, there's the higher cost factor as well as supply limitations. We were intrigued when we saw Capcom's Tekki a few months ago. The controller was...unfathomable. NCS fully expected Capcom to back out of shipping the Tekki controller, perhaps citing a return to sanity or a sudden loss of conviction. Nope.
Shipping on August 22 at Y19,800, Tekki is expected to perform moderately well, considering it's girth, weight, and nightmarish logistics. A mech simulation game, Tekki looks similar to a Mech-Warrior or a myriad of other robot sims. Fervent fanboys who dream of mech control panels may find paradise realized when they plant themselves behind the Tekki controller and go to work.

Konami announced Gamecube Captain Tsubasa ~ Challenge of the Golden Generation (Y6800) to ship on September 12. Similar to other Tsubasa click-action games, players choose an attack or a line of defense and watch the action play out in a frenzy of probabilities.
Hot on the heels of The Baseball 2002: Battle Ball Park Declaration Profesional Baseball Evolution, shipping on July 11 for Xbox, Konami promises both Gamecube and Playstation 2 editions of the game on September 12. All twelve professional teams are represented in the photo-realistic game developed with live footage from Nippon Television.
For suspect reasons, Taito will re-release the PS2 game Dog of Bay (Y2800) on August 1 under the company's Popular Edition brand. We question the use of the word Popular when describing Dog of Bay.
Kadokawa Shoten / Atlus plans a re-release of their unique flight-combat simulation game Kuusen on August 8.
Spam, viruses of all stripes and rampant porn have forced NCS to install email filters on our public accounts which stream to a central server. Please note that the filters may strain out legitimate email as well as the chunks of spam. To prevent any filtering of your email, please refrain from using the following words or phrases in the header or the body of your message: free money, sexy girls, home mortgage, naked and wet, how to win, huge knockers, hot and free, honey i missed you, nigerian money, transfer (var) million dollars, klez, BANNED CD!, and how are you. this is my game.

Please also do not append any attachments to your emails either as they will all be filtered and sent to some digital black hole.
A couple of other imports were announced overnight but our translations seem to be a bit off. There's a new GBA Bubble Bobble featuring old and new game engines shipping on July 25 but vendors also list a GBA Castlevania game shipping in mid-August. It may just be a reproduction of White Night Concerto. PS2 Battle Queen is attributed to Taito and shipping on August 1 while a company called PCPJ ships regular and limited editions of what we translate to be Freegun on August 29. We'll post additional details and clarifications soon.
