GBA: Bakuten Shoot Beyblade   JAPAN   US$43   BUY
Translated as Explosive Spinning Shot Beyblade and based on a line of toys from Takara, Beyblades are basically spinning tops which are composed of 5 parts. The different parts may be swapped in/out to increase attack power against rival tops, stability and endurance.
In video-game land, Beyblade apes Pokemon by adding monsters which live in each top to give it attributes. As a "shooter", your job is to compete against other shooters for domination in arenas of battle.

GBA: Golden Sun 2 ~ The Lost Age   JAPAN   US$49   BUY
One of the largest Gameboy Advance games, Golden Sun 2 tops out at a mighty 128-megabits. To give a sense of scale, the largest Super Famicom cartridges reached 48-megabits. We're hitting Neo-Geo levels here folks. The sequel to Golden Sun brings back Jenna, Felix, and the rest of the gang in an adventure which takes place 1 year after the first Golden Sun. The Djinn system also returns with three new classes of Light, Dark, and Psy. Over 30 Djinns may be found throughout the game.

PS2: Gun Survivor 3   JAPAN   US$60   BUY
It's time to spank the dust bunnies off your Guncon 2.0 and put it through some serious shooting action. As the story goes, a dimensional rift damages the ecological balance of the cretaceous period which puts the evolution of mankind into question. To ensure man's existence, a scheme is hatched which transports dinosaurs of all types into the future. Once the ecological balance of the cretaceous period is restored, the dinosaurs will be sent back in time to their natural era. Fast-forward to 1943 and Mike Wired is ejecting from his plane, a victim of poor dog-fighting skills. As he wafts to the ground, space-time somehow intersects that of the time-traveling dinosaurs and Mike plunges into a Lost World teeming with menacing dinosaurs. To survive the prehistoric onslaught, our hero must wield flame throwers, rocket launchers, tesla guns, and other heavy weaponry to blast the beasts. Special items are peppered throughout levels but shoot them accidentally and they're lost. Gun Survivor 3 plays entirely in English, from the speech to the text to the menus. A boxed edition which includes the Guncon is also in stock.

PS2: Houshin Engi 2   JAPAN   US$60   BUY
The Shang Dynasty enjoyed a reign of over 500 years before it fell into disrepair. The last ruler of the Shang, Di Xin, tortured his people, murdered officials who opposed his views, and wrecked the legacy he inherited. The Zhou Dynasty eventually rose to replace the Shang, capped by a coordinated attack which forced Xin to set fire to his castle and die within it's confines. The novel Fengshen Yanyi takes the late history of the Shang Dynasty and reworks events by enhancing them with magic, gods, and superhuman alter-egos. Koei's Houshin Engi 2 follows Yanyi's lead by re-painting historic events with a magical brush.
A deposed deity seeks a return to power and begins to marshall his forces. The people are roused and rumblings of evil's imminent return spread through the land. A young boy accidentally joins a quest to discover the root of evil and stifle it's comeback. Played entirely in 3-D, Houshin Engi 2 features roaming-fighting-magic action where hordes of enemies attack and magical spells ignite the screen. The eye-candy factor deserves a 10, especially in areas where goons swarm in for the kill and magical pastel light-shows shower the land.

ETC: This and That
NCS also stocked PS2 Tsuzuse Gareijiri today but we'll update this game on Monday. Some parts of the game's content are offensive and general audiences may not understand the humor. Yes, it's another very strange and wacky Japanese game(s).
We were expecting 12 different PS2 memory cards today but only 5 made it in. Shown to the left is the camouflage model. The leopard-spot version is also in stock, along with pink, orange, and lime-green. Full photos and store listings will be updated later today.
