PREORDER: Rage of the Dragons   JPN   US$325   BUY
Evoga Entertainments ships the Neo Geo AES (home cartridge) version of Rage of the Dragons on September 26. Priced at Y39800 or US$331.36 at this morning's spot, NCS expects to price the game at US$325. Based on our arcane divination skills, we foresee a weaker dollar against the yen in coming months. A return to $1 = ¥108 is entirely likely but that probably won't affect pricing of this particular game.

PS1 Arcade Hits Moon Cresta [Published by Hamster / $20]

It don't get more old school than this. Back in the day (1980), Nichibutsu blasted out a shooter in the style of Galaxian but with a twist. Instead of a simple ship, the possibility of using a three-stage vessel helped shooter nuts to rid the cosmos of alien marauders. The ability to dock onto larger segments gave players the ability to build a veritable killing machine. The original and an updated version are included herein.
PS1 Digimon World 3 [Published by Bandai / $55]

While playing a new game called Digimon Online, three friends are transported into the game-world where they must fight four schools of monster trainers in order to escape. Attractive isometric world exploration screens and detailed battle sequences provide ample graphical eye-candy. Each copy of DW3 includes a 35-page booklet which details strategy, maps, and monsters in the game.
PS1 Gatchaman [Published by Bandai / $25]

The full name is "Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman: the Shooting" but in the USA, we know it as Battle of the Planets. Essentially a 2-D vertical shooter, the Gatchaman crew fly through various stages and shoot all oncoming enemy ships. For a budget priced release, the graphics are well done with a clean, cartoon-ish style.
PS1 Pop 'n Music 6 [Published by Konami / $55]

Bemani continues to roll with all of the various franchises hitting high number sequels. The latest Pop 'n Music includes a number of catchy tunes including Gotta Get My Groove On, Marshmallow March, We Two Are One, and many, many other musical selections. New characters join the usual crew to diversify the mix.

A simple puzzle game, players link same-colored fireworks together and explode them into blooms of incandescent sparks. In addition to new night cities and new music, a two-player mode helps to share the love amongst couples.

Rejoin the strangest axe-wielder this side of Japan as he rages across 10 stages of musical mayhem with tracks from the band Coil.
