PS2: Densha de Go! Travel Mood  JAPAN  US$60  BUY
In the world of Densha, trains run on tracks that roam for miles and miles without interruption. Chop the train into just the locomotive and you (sort of) have a trolley car (known as a tramway in Japan). As the conductor of a trolley, your job is to stop for passengers and take them to their destinations. A trolley car shares the road alongside normal traffic where additional precautions must be taken in the event that wayward drivers get in your way. Tooting the horn helps to ward off meandering motorists but accidents do happen. Traffic lights also make braking a more frequent task than in operating a normal locomotive. The Travel Mood game offers three perspective options when driving the trolley: driver view, an isometric front view, and a bird's eye view of the action as you motor down city streets. Four different routes may be enjoyed including Matsuyama in the spring, Enoshima in the summer, Kyoto in the fall, and Hakodate in the winter. As an all-day operator, routes will take you from day to night and night to day where ridership volume peaks during the morning commutes and troughs at midnight.

XBX: Murakumo  JAPAN  US$60  BUY
In the conveniently ephemeral future, technology will have advanced to a point where intelligent mechs are doing much of the construction and infrastructure work. Known as Artificial Reflexive Kineticoids, these ARKs suffer from the usual doldrums of menial labor and rebel against their makers. With big machine rioting going on, the authorities call in the Murakumo - mighty armed mecha, to put down the unrest. Chase and shoot down various ARKs as you weave through metropolitan canyons, open air scenery, and subterranean tunnels. We've only watched the game intros this morning but the cinemas and the action sequences run fast. Our suppliers graciously supplied us with a beautiful Murakumo hardcover booklet which spans 24 pages. The pages feature artwork, the cast of characters in the game, ARK designs (sketches of Cloud models 1 through 5), artwork of Port Oliver, and sketches of the various enemy ARKs in the game. The book concludes with a few photos and a full list of the staff that contributed to the game. Unfortunately, we only received 1 book for every 20 copies of the game so we'll hand these out randomly.
