Chobits + GBA Bundle

Chobits Cartridge

GBA: Chobits GBA Bundle  JPN  $138  ORDER
High school student Motosuwa Hideki struggles in cram school to try and enter Tokyo University. The game recounts the storyline of the manga / anime where Hideki finds a Persocon (Personal Computer, in the shape of a girl) while going home from work. He lugs the PC home and turns her on (in an exotic place) and she immediately yelps "Chi." Once the player gains control, the storyline is laid out and Hideki eventually names her Chi since that is all she is capable of uttering. One of the first locations Hideki visits for help is his friend Shimbo's house, which is graced by the presence of many maid Persocons dressed in revealing outfits. Chi causes the maid Persocons to break down until they lie around her in a heap. Hideki and friends then have to figure out what Chi is and help her learn - perhaps she is a Chobit, a legendary type of Persocon which has emotions and independent thought.
The GBA + Chobits bundle includes a clear-blue GBA with a decal of Chi above the A+B buttons and a Chobits logo above the D-pad.

Kidou Senki Gundam W

Kidou Butouden G Gundam
PS: Kidou Senki Gundam W: The Battle  JPN  $25  ORDER
Set in an alternative universe, Gundam Wing borrows the technology and mechs from the Gundam mythos but draws no parallels to any of the storylines that have come before it. The tale revolves around five young Gundam drivers who battle back against an oppressive Earth government. Robots featured in this 2-D fighting game include Desert Gundam, Double Dragon Gundam, Death Buster Gundam, and Heavy Cannon Gundam, among others. Similar to the earlier 2-D Gundam fighting games Gundam the Battle Master 1 & 2, the mechs are big, bold, and animate well. A Story Mode makes up the bulk of the game as you battle against all foes to reach the ultimate foe but a Versus Mode allows two humans to bout it out. A Free Mode and a Survival Mode round out the gaming options.
PS: Kidou Butouden G Gundam: The Battle  JPN  $25  ORDER
Another alternate universe Gundam, the G series takes place sometime in the future, where humans have abandoned a polluted Earth. Living on massive colonies which orbit the planet, the off-world masses decide on government by way of battles where the strongest rule for a period of four years. Verily, the seat of power is decided by a Gundam Fight where mighty mechs steam into Earth and use it as a battlefield. Players fight in 2-D bouts and choose their warriors from such mech notables as Dragon Gundam, Evil Gundam, God Gundam, Gundam Rose, and Shining Gundam.

Off-Road Buggy

PS2: Off-Road Buggy, The  JPN  $23  ORDER
Blundering and undulating across sandy terrain and other harsh grounds, the de facto off-road Buggy resembles an exotic insect with it's large stubby wheels, wiry frame, and loud buzzing emanations. Four gnarly dudes and two bodacious babes climb into their respective rides and head off into the wild dusty yonder. One of the babes straddles a yellow all-terrain motorbike whilst a Guile-looking driver in camouflage duds meshes well in his Humvee. A spiky-haired youth hopes to best the other drivers in his wire=frame Formula-wannabe. Choose from any of these characters (along with another three) as your onscreen persona. Gameplay is passable with somewhat stodgy controls as you hit the dirt and maneuver the turns and winding roads. Daytime courses take place across wilderness panoramas with farms nestled in the landscape while night racing goes into the more gentrified air of modernly lit pseudo cities. GT-Force compatibility ensures better control of your car over the joypad but all in all, a decent racing game for the price.

Jockey's Road

GBA: Jockey's Road  JPN  $58  ORDER
Amidst manicured shrubbery, immaculate fields, and well-kept stables, a fiefdom is on the rise. Master of all he surveys, the wizened horse farm owner hires you, a lowly jockey, as his man on the track and adds another cog to his empire. Starting out in trial horse races, the player works on building both reputation and skill to set himself apart from the other jockeys and potential rivals. In additional to keeping an eye on the competition, you will also interact with jockeys and support staff. As jockey, you work and train with your horses to establish a rapport with them. A possible 300 horses may be generated in each game with which to buy, trade, and race. Horse racing action is shown in a variety of angles which shift from overview bird's eye to ant's eye as the steeds thunder down the track, blasting up dust clouds. Details in the game are quite good, with well designed stables which house all the accoutrements of horse care. Each horse in a stall has its own feedbag and some horses eat while others stare off into space. Most horse sims give players the reins of the operation - this one makes you a contributor to success.

Head Mount Display

NEWS: Sony Head Mount Display  JPN  $550  PREORDER
The latest in viewing gadgetry, Sony's PS2 Head Mount Display sports a pair of 0.44" 1.8 million pixel LCD screens affixed to goggles and themselves attached to a pair of headphones. According to the literature, the LCDs give the illusion of peering into a 42" television screen at a range of 2 meters. To enhance gameplay, (only Energy Airforce supports the HMD so far) the display tracks the viewer's head movements and adjusts images accordingly in a thrilling "motion tracking function." In addition to PS2 usability, DVD players may be connected to the HMD for immersive screenings of movies. Weighing a relatively airy 12 ounces (compared to a 42" Wega Plasma), the Head Mount Display is valued at Y62000 or US$550 from NCS. Preorders are welcome via email request
