Modern
society loves sweet pastries and Japan is no different.
Essentially a soft bread filled with sweet red bean paste,
anpan is consumed copiously in Japan while variants exist in
Asia. Created by manga artist Yanase Takashi, Anpanman is
literally a bread-headed hero, whose noggin is a big 'ol
piece of anpan with eyes, big nose, and a smile. Hero boy
serves the people of Anpan World by fighting hunger, general
despair, and evil-doers. No one goes hungry when Anpanman is
around as he'll parcel out pieces of his head to feed the
malnourished. Anpanman's weaknesses are similar to the
weaknesses of any yeast raised product and those are: Mold,
bacteria, and water. Spray streams of Evian to stop his
heroics but be aware that a new Anpanman head may be baked
each day to replace the soggy, soiled one.

Shipping in March of 2003, plush Anpanman and a few Anpan
World denizens ride in plush aero-planes. From the 10 'o
clock position and going clockwise, we have Anpanman,
Shokupanman, Dokin-chan, and Baikinman. Each plush measures
18cm tall and NCS expects pricing per to land at US$10 each.

Anpanman's arch-enemy Baikinman aka Bacteria Man grins in
goofy manner whilst our hero is content to grin slightly.
From a distance, Anpanman appears to own three bulbous noses
on his face but rumor has it that the baking process makes
for ruddy cheek illumination. Each figure measures 25cm and
is suitable for display purposes. Pricing for these
magnificent specimens appears a bargain at US$15.
