All re-confirmed preorders for Freeloader
are shipping today. A simple universal boot disc, Freeloader
allows the use of Japanese and European Gamecube software on
a USA Gamecube console. Across the pond, European Gamecubes
are enabled by the same Freeloader to play USA and JPN
games. Those with Japanese Cubes are similarly gifted.
Please note: the manual outlines three methods for booting
import EUR/JPN or USA games as described below: |
1- Direct boot Freeloader from
power up, remove Freeloader, insert import
2- Power up Gamecube, drop Freeloader, select Gameplay
option, insert import
3- Direct boot Freeloader, press Z button to select region
of import, insert import |

Reports from our early bird customers in the UK
are generally positive but Datel has acknowledged a problem
with PAL GC consoles playing the USA version of Resident
Evil Zero. Although we haven't tried PAL Gamecube software
on a USA Gamecube console this morning, the video output
will apparently run at 50Hz rather than the NTSC standard of
60Hz. To test this, we will import Doshin the Giant from UK
suppliers and see how it plays. If acceptable, NCS will
offer the game and other European exclusive releases in the
future. |
