Do you think the Japanese GBA SP will drop to ~US$130
soon?
Nintendo can pump out a lot of product when
they want to. We know this from our history of purchasing
GBCs, GBAs and GCs. We're assuming there are additional
shipments of the GBA SP slated for the next few days and
once these supplies hit the market, prices will drop to more
reasonable levels. We've learned harsh lessons in Nintendo
economics starting with the Japanese N64 a few years back so
we're trying our best not to repeat history. Nintendo's stated goal was to ship 2 million GBA SPs by the
end of March 2003 and we're betting that more supplies are on
the way.

So, you're saying I shouldn't buy the GBA SP at ~US$175?
Yes, that is our advisement. You might feel perturbed if you pay
$175 only to see it at the original price of $130 (or
something very close to that) a week or
so later.

But are you still getting any GBA SPs at the higher price however?
We deposited a 33% payment last month which
binds us to accepting a small quantity of the initial supplies of the GBA
SP even though the pricing has changed. We
remain cognizant and wary of the fact that prices
destabilize very quickly and collapse when supplies
"suddenly" become available. A price plunge could
even happen by tonight since we're in a fast moving market.

Okay. Is my preorder with NCS still intact then?
If you have not emailed or called us to cancel your GBA SP
preorder, we have kept your reservation in our processing
queue. We will contact you when
prices drop to re-confirm preorders at the original
offer price (or around there.)

Will NCS find new suppliers after this week?
This shortage affects all trading houses and is not caused
by any one trader. As mentioned earlier, we expect
additional supplies of the GBA SP within the next few days
along with lower prices.

What about the GBA SP + FFT Bundle?
We will post an update on the bundle tomorrow. Ironically,
there does not appear to be any shortages of the limited
edition GBA SP + FFT and we expect to fill all confirmed
preorders for this item at our original offer price. |
