Neo-Geo Shin Gouketuji Ichizoku - New Power Instinct

PREORDER

With blessings from Atlus, publisher Noise Factory recently announced the fourth installment of the Power Instinct fighting game for MVS and Neo Geo home console. Grandma Goketsuji Oume's back with her flying choppers along with a cast of new and old misfits who battle it out in this 2-D fighting game. Combatants include the wand-wielding Kurara from Prikura Daisakusen and a half-human/half dog fighter with floppy ears named Poochy.
Preorders are welcome starting today for the Japanese home cartridge at US$319.
Poochy on the right, feints and steels himself while Reiji bulks up his stress meter (rage level.) Build up enough stress and you'll crush opponents with mighty attacks powered by pent-up angst.

  Gameboy Player

PREORDER

Straddle your Gamecube atop the Gameboy Player and add the ability to play thousands of Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance cartridges on your television or monitor. Whereas GBA games translate beautifully to the big screen, you might experience blocky pixel shock with some of the ancient Gameboy games from back in the day. Pricing stands tentatively at US$70 but please note that shortages are anticipated when the GB Player launches on March 21.

Shin Sangoku Musou 3 Treasure Box

SOLD OUT

The premium edition of Shin Sangoku Musou 3 arrived this morning and we will process most preorders today. Unfortunately we were short-shipped a few pieces but we will check with vendors for additional stock. If we are unable to fill your preorder for the Premium Pack today, you will receive an email update this afternoon. The items inside the Treasure Box are: SSM3 [JPN] game disk, an Extension CD for SSM2 and SSM2 Mushouden, a set of trading cards, a strategy guide, a Sangokushi booklet, a collection of post cards and a Sangokushi drama CD. All this schwag packed in a fat gray box and suitable for any SSM fan's collection.
On a side note, the SSM2 pack is the heaviest limited edition product we've carried at a hefty 5.4lbs or 2.44kg. In comparison, the Zone of Enders LE package weighed a measly 3.0lbs and the Love Hina Smile Again LE tipped the scales at 2.8lbs.

  General Stateside Update

USA

Four USA Playstation 2 releases are shipping this week as follows: All Star Baseball 2004, Grand Prix Challenge, Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance and Tenchu 3. The Japanese version of Tenchu 3 ships on April 24.
On the Xbox, Murakumo: Renegade Mech Pursuit and High Heat 2004 are shipping this week while Rayman 3 debuts on Nintendo's purple console. We'll stock the games that are linked but will be skipping the ones that aren't.
We've noticed that many of the chain-store retailers in the USA are skipping some of the smaller games that are being released by publishers. Some examples are the GBA versions of King of Fighters EX and Guilty Gear X Advance. We understand skipping the original KOF EX as it wasn't a top-shelf fighting game but GGX Advance is an excellent portable conversion. To help the cause, we'll stock both games tomorrow at US$20 each.
Another small game being released this week on the USA Playstation is Blockids. Old school players may remember this Arkanoid play-alike from 1996 when we originally stocked it from Japan with a paddle controller. Interesting that publishers are plumbing the import past for budget priced releases in a saturated USA market.
