  NEWS PS2/GC Dream Mix TV World Fighters Preorder
   Imitation is supposedly equivalent to flattery or at least a form of it. When websites copy our content, we tend to call it plagiarism rather than sincere adulation. Go figure. However, in the world of video game publishing, it's legally acceptable to "look and feel" like something else (precedent: Data East vs Epyx 1988). Konami tests the flattery adage on Dec. 18, 2003 when the company brings together a number of marquee heroes from their camp as well as Hudson and Takara's character rosters for a smashing fighting game. Dream Mix TV World Fighters will be available for both the Gamecube and Playstation 2 and preorders are welcome starting today.
   The eleven confirmed characters in the game, thus far, include Bomberman, Master Takahashi of Adventure Island fame, Microman (from a popular Takara toy line), Optimus Prime, Peachboy from the Momotaro Densetsu games, a pitcher from Powerful Pro Baseball, Super Doll Rika-chan (also from a popular Takara toy line), Simon Belmont, Takao Kinomiya (aka Tyson Granger in the USA) from Beyblade, Twinbee, and Yugo, the werewolf from Bloody Roar.
   Six characters have yet to be revealed but we're guessing Solid Snake, Megatron, Bonk, at least one Cho Aniki brother, a Choro-Q vehicle and a Genso Suikoden character - perhaps Gremio or Viktor...
   Other potential candidates: Goemon, Toshinden fighters, J-Phoenix mechs?
 
 

  NEWS GC Hudson Family Collection Vol. 3 and Vol. 4 Preorder
   The first two volumes of Hudson's Family Collection remakes (Lode Runner and Star Soldier) sold rather well and the retro revival continues in December when the company resurrects Takahashi Meijin no Adventure Island (Vol. 3) and PC Genjin (Vol. 4) on December 18 and December 24 respectively. PC Genjin, which "translates" to Pithecanthropus Computerurus Prehistoric Man,  is better known in the USA as Bonk's Adventure where a cantankerous and carnivorous caveman butts heads with anything that moves. Similar to the previous Family Collection games, the new releases will feature updated sound and improved graphical renderings worthy of the Gamecube.
