  NEWS Castlevania (Lament of Innocence) LE Preorder
   The Belmont clan would have faded into obscurity were it not for the legacy of one Leon Belmont. All the way back in the 11th century, knights once protected the lands of feudal lords but reforms made them a loosely bound force of medieval policemen. In a superstitious world fearful of preternatural beings, roaming monsters reinforced those fears and knights provided a measure of protection. As the story goes, one particular squad of nights was particularly formidable thanks to the uncanny fighting skills of Leon and the tactical savvy of Leon's close friend, Mathias Cronquist. When Sara, spouse of Leon, gets herself kidnapped by creatures, Leon takes up a magical whip as gifted by an alchemist and goes monster hunting.
   Leon apparently imbued his thirst for blood on his progeny as well as their fashion sense. To complement his suit of close fitting knightly armor, Leon wears a long red-white cape which swishes to and fro during battle. The swishy cape would endear itself to future males in the Belmont lineage. Leon battles the usual assortment of undead including skeletal warriors armed with swords and hefting shields, rock creatures, hydra-like bosses and many other fanciful beasts in his charge towards the meeting Dracula for the first time. 
   The Limited Edition includes a 2003-2004 calendar, a music CD and a piece of artwork by Ayami Kojima whose work has graced Castlevania games since Symphony of the Night. Preorders are also welcome for the regular edition which ships on November 27.
 
 
In 1985, after the Tigers' last win,
frenzied fans threw a standee of
Colonel Sanders (Yes, the KFC guy)

injustice, the Tigers have never won
a pennant...until this past month.

  NEWS Hanshin Tigers Gamecube Console Preorder
With the Tigers clinching the Central League pennant by beating the Hiroshima Carp, Nintendo issues the special limited edition Tigers Gamecube to celebrate the win. Guess the curse of the colonel since 1985's championship win has been banished (See sidebar for the details).
   The Hanshin Tigers bundle includes a white Gamecube designed with pinstripes and the Championship logo, a Hanshin Tigers team tee, a black Tigers joypad and a Gameboy Player.
   Preorders are welcome starting today to ship in early October at a price of US$299 for the set.

  DC Border Down in stock and shipping
   Border Down offers a simple firing system, a routine scoring multiplier and a versatile mega-weapon. It's the mega-weapon that provides the wrinkle in Border Down and much of the strategy. G.Rev introduces the Break Laser in BD which may be compared to the laser in Metal Black (Taito circa 1991).

   Preorders for Border Down are shipping today. NCS is currently presold out of the regular edition of the game but we hope to receive a second supply by next Tuesday. The print run for the game was fairly small but we're confident that we'll be able to import enough restock to last us for the remainder of the year.
   DC releases are basically "boutique" games at this point with small print runs due to the diminishing but loyal audience. Ironically, DC games still sell better for us than PS2 or GC combined.
