   Sporting a premise similar to that of Kingdom of Scribbling aka Magic Pengel in the USA, Tensai Bit-Kun Guramon Battle gives players the power of pen and doodling's the name of the game. Draw a monster and watch it come to life as a living (well...), breathing, fighting machine.
   Ill-prepared artists need not fear if their drawing hand is more than a little off. The program guides the doodler with a firm Japanese voice which teaches cartoon creating tyros the finer points of illustration. Errant lines and wayward chicken scratches are also cleaned up to avoid any embarrassing artwork. Once a creation is ready, it may be saved to memory card and used as a battle beast against other doodled monsters in an arena. For those who prefer not to doodle, a set of fully fleshed out monsters may be selected as your on-screen fighter.
   Three game modes are featured in the game:
1) Story Mode: Draw a Guramon and "raise" it by battling in arenas
2) Tournament Mode: Battle Guramon one-on-one against foes
3) Guramon Exchange Mode: Trade monsters with friends
   Similar to Kingdom of Scribbling, monsters may be saved to memory card. Winnings may be used to add colors and "parts" to your creature for enhanced fighting performance.
 
 

Tengai Makyo 2 Manji Maru

   Hudson's remake of the Tengai Makyo 2 game features updated graphics and new cinemas to relay the tale to a new crop of gamers.
   Curio seekers may also pick up the original PC-Engine game on the Preowned section of the old shop.  
   Back in the day, the PC-Engine SCD game was an impressive affair with animations, 2-D gameplay and musical scores. The PS2 version revamps everything with newly drawn artwork, fluid animations and sound. The world exploration is also in 3-D with your crew of explorers lining up behind your lead like a troupe. Encounters are also rendered in animated action.


All orders for the game include a bonus "Making Of Tengai Makyo III" DVD.

  GC Hanshin Tigers Gamecube Console shipping today
   With the Tigers clinching the Central League pennant by beating the Hiroshima Carp, Nintendo issues the special limited edition Tigers Gamecube to celebrate the win. Guess the curse of the colonel since 1985's championship win has been banished (See sidebar for the details).
   The Hanshin Tigers bundle includes a white Gamecube designed with pinstripes and the Championship logo, a Hanshin Tigers team tee which is labeled "Free Size" for all players, a black Tigers joypad and a Gameboy Player. A Hanshin Tigers bag will also be included with early preorders.

  GC Hori Memory Card Color Variants shipping today
   Expanding their empire, Hori starts manufacturing color memory cards for the Gamecube in late 2003. Four colors are available to match the four available regulation issue GC consoles: Black, Indigo, Silver and Spice. Each blister packed memory card also includes a memory card snaplock case and two labels included to mark your save data. Hori has released numerous memory cards to commemorate Tales of Symphonia, Final Fantasy Chronicles and more, so the plain color variants for Cube were a long time coming.
 
 

  NEWS Import Outlook for the week
   The next event in the home DDR scene arrives this week on Wednesday or Thursday when Dance Dance Revolution Extreme reaches market. Catchy songs on the playlist include "Cartoon Heroes" from Barbie, "We Will Rock You" courtesy of the HouseBoyz, "Kiss Kiss Kiss" by Naoki featuring Shanti, and a whole mess more.
