   NCS recently started a little hydroponic experiment with the goal of sowing a few crops in the dead of winter, inside one our offices. We have a couple of 430W P.L. Reflectors with Hortilux bulbs which provide enough lumens for what we're aiming to grow. Here's a trio of cantaloupe seedlings in a bubbler at about a week old.
   The seeds were taken from a freshly eviscerated cantaloupe and we started the entire bunch of seeds on a tray of water. Surprisingly, the germination rate was approximately 99% although we didn't keep all of the seedlings. LECA (Light Expanded Clay Aggregate) rocks was used as the grow medium although we've tried coconut coir as well with this type of seed.
