PS2 Midnight Black

  NEWS More PS2 Color Variants - Shipping Nov. 27, 2003

   Not new, but old and rehashed for distribution once again, Sony re-releases the Midnight Blue Japanese PS2 console later this month. The Midnight Blue package includes an internal HDD, a network adapter and a vertical stand. Pricing descends from the current (in stock) Japanese yen price of Y35000 (US$321.96 forex spot) to Y29800 (US$274.12) for the next batch.
   A Midnight Black PS2 is also on the plate for November 27 which replaces the color scheme of the generic PS2 console from plain solid black to an opaque black color. Nothing special is included with the debut production of the Midnight Black unit other than regulation issue inclusions such as a single joypad, cables and instruction manual.
   One of the vendor preorder flyers received over the weekend mentions a silver-colored PS2 console which also ships on November 27 but we don't have photos of that variant just yet. A quick perusal of Sony's upcoming hardware offers for November also don't show the silver unit.
 
 

PS2 Ceramic White

  NEWS General Updates  
   Toy manufacturers fired off another bunch of early 2004 product solicitations overnight but nothing too interesting caught our attention. Of course, we'll post any updates once something worthy crosses our way. Even though toy manufacturers are now past the holiday season planning stage in terms of preorders and estimating product demand, the beginning of any year is important for 1Q sales and profit expectations. Shareholders and lenders like to see the year start off with a bang and not a muffled thud...
   An Asian territory version of the PS2 Racing Pack with the Ceramic White console is also on schedule for December 18. The bundle contains a Chinese language version of GT4 Prologue but we're skipping this set and will only be offering only the Japanese Ceramic White Racing Pack.
