PS2 Evangelion 2: Shinseiki Evangelions

Step into the role of Third Child Shinji Ikari and live the life in the world of Evangelion. Go to school, feel sorry for yourself, walk around in a slovenly manner, and interact with other members of your team such as First Child Rei Ayanami and Second Child Asuka Langley. Along the way, learn from hardened pros such as Misato Katsuragi and perhaps even the enigmatic Gendo Ikari. Poppy. Of course, when Angels attack, Misato yells and takes charge as EVA team rushes to battle stations and enters the hatches of their appointed EVAs in order to prevent Tokyo-3 from being razed. A strong sync ratio influences the EVA's performance during battle and you may bump it up during the interaction sequences with other characters in the game.

Interaction is depicted in high quality animation while the game map and Angel encounters are shown in a surreal-looking 3-D environment. When fighting, a power bar dictates when you may strike and each attack drains energy. Wait until the power bar refuels before striking again. As in the animation, an EVA is tethered by a power cord during battle which affects the range of movement but Angels generally stay close during encounters.

Bandai touts true-to-the-anime scenarios which stay within the storyline set up in the animation series and every little action that one partakes in the game will affect the available paths in the game and the final outcome. This, of course, makes for endless possibilities and permutations which in turn presents high replay value for otaku-ish fans who wish to see everything.

The voice actors and actresses who gave life to the cast of characters in the animation reprise their roles in the PS2 game for a nice true-to-the-original touch. The introduction from the Evangelion anime is also retained for the intro to the game.
