PS2 Gegege no Kitaro

Way before Ghostbusters lit up the silver screen with visions of ghosts, busters of said ghosts and a massive marshmallow spirit of the wicked kind, Shigeru Mizuki enticed manga readers with the adventures of Kitaro. Borne from the loins of an entombed mother, Kitaro was what you would call a goblin or a monster that is inherently...monstrous. There's no Frankenstein amalgamation, no lycanthropic transformation and definitely no vampiric oil changes here - Kitaro is a natural born monster through and through. Teaming up with his left eye named Medama-oyaji, who is really Kitaro's late father returning for another stint at life, Kitaro embarks on adventures of evil ghost hunting and busting. Kit's left eye roams around, literally, in bipedal fashion and helps (hinders, also) Kitaro in their escapades.

Back in the 60s when Kitaro debuted, he used some rudimentary gear to perform his work. With the new millenium in full swing, Kitaro adapts to the changing times and gets wired with a cellphone and a nifty laptop which he uses to scope out the locations of errant spirits on the loose. The game is played in flick-action and full blown action sequences where Kitaro meets ghosts in isometrically viewed environs. Characters from the manga/anime series that make appearances include Neko-musumo, Nezumi otoko and Ittan-momen.
