  NEWS Woody Woodpecker Revival - Shipping April 2004

   Known as Woody le Pic in French Canada or Pájaro Loco in Mexico, Woody Woodpecker is an international player with legions of schoolchildren familiar with his wise-acre cracks and hammering beak attacks. Despite being out of regular television rotation since the 70s, Woody nevertheless enjoyed rerun recognition through the 80s and 90s in various markets. In 1999, Universal resurrected Woody with a new series dubbed The Woody Woodpecker Show - Billy West (he who barked out the voices for both Ren & Stimpy) provided vocal stylings but the series was soon canceled. Woody struggles to becomes big in Japan once again when April 2004 rolls around with an assortment of new toys. Taito announced seven different Woody products overnight but we've plucked out only a few for display today.

   Dubbed the Woody Woodpecker Big Doll, Woody and Chilly Willy measure approximately 33cm for big exposure on arctic slopes.    Slightly smaller, the Woody Woodpecker Big Doll 2 features Woody's nephew Knothead, his niece Splinter and a Chilly Willy variant.
 
 

  NEWS Capcom Toys - Shipping April 2004

   Yujin announced a new Nostalgic Collection of toys based on Capcom video game classics. Check them in the photo to the left.
   In the photo below, the Capcom Imagination Trading Figure from Bandai features 5 characters as follows from left to right: Rockman, Haggar from Final Fight, Ryu from Street Fighter, Chun-Li, and Zabel from Vampire Saviour.

 

 

 

  NEWS Import Outlook - Shipping Wednesday-Thursday

   Last week, there was but one new import in Seven Samurai 20XX. This week, things get a little hotter with three new releases - PS2 Anubis Zone of Enders Special Edition and the Sega Ages 2500 re-release of Bonanza Bros (which also includes a remake of the puzzle game Shukudaigan Tant-R).
   On the Gamecube, Kaiju no Shima: Amazing Island ships to eager fans of gaming curio. Sega's new adventure features monster creation, mini-games and monster evolution all played within the context of repelling a malcontent named Dark Evil who is set on ruling Amazing Island.
