Famicom GBA SP Variant

  NEWS Famicom GBA SP - Shipping February 14, 2003
   Last year, Nintendo commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the Famicom console with a retro-flavored GBA SP variant. Lovely in its white and red shell outside with gold-colored inlay inside, a mere 1000 units were produced and given away in a contest exclusive to Japanese citizens. It looked like this:
   With such a limited release, there was bound to be a lot of yearning, hankering and embittered outcry from those who missed out. You know who you are. Nintendo apparently listened to the rancor and has announced another Famicom GBA SP whose styling is based on the later Famicom console (which can be seen in the Yujin Famicom capsule toys) with a red and white design sans the gold. Along with the Famicom GBA SP variant, ten old Famicom classics will be reissued in GBA form at the rather lofty price of Y2000 each. The games are: Bomberman, Donkey Kong, Excite Bike, Ice Climber, Legend of Zelda, Mappy, Pac-Man, Star Soldier, Super Mario Bros, and Xevious. NCS opens up preorders today for the Famicom GBA SP variant and the ten re-releases, which will all ship on February 14.

  NEWS XBOX Console Variants - Shipping February and March
    Console color gimmickry has been fairly scarce on the Xbox - there was the original clear-black limited edition console when the Xbox debuted in Japan and a Panzer Dragoon Orta version. That's it.
   Microsoft expands the Xbox rainbow this spring when a Pure White console and a Kasumi Blue model are shipped on February 22 and March 25 respectively. Both consoles include a matching controller, a DVD Playback Kit, and a 12-month Xbox Live account.
   Only 1000 units of the Pure White console will be produced while 5000 units of the Kasumi Blue version are planned. These numbers are fairly miniscule when compared to the 50,000 units that Sony regularly pumps out for their PS2 variants, thus raising their "rare" value...

  NEWS MGS Gamecube, Many Dating Games on the way
   A few other products shipping in March were shopped around by Japanese wholesalers overnight as follows:
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Premium Package (GC)
   Nintendo and Konami celebrate the Gamecube release of MGS with a special Gamecube console bundle which includes an MGS decorated Gamecube, a copy of Twin Snakes, a bonus CD containing behind the scenes information and the original NES Metal Gear game, and an art booklet.
Oshiete! Popotan (PS2)
   Besides enjoying a title which rolls off the tongue, WellMade's upcoming love game features another bout of romance interaction with three sisters providing interplay. A music rhythm game factors in the scheme of things where successful completion leads to favorable events.
Sanma Nisai Deus Mechanica: Demon Bane (PS2)
   Sorcery, sexy maidens in poofy dresses and mecha all appear in Kadogawa Shoten's upcoming adventure game. The regular edition is priced at a higher than average Y7800 while a deluxe pack which includes a bonus DVD-Rom containing artwork, music and background data goes for Y9800.
Remember 11: The Age of Infinity (PS2)
   A solitary chalet in the middle of a snowbound mountain serves as the backdrop for a quartet of stranded plane crash victims. Interact with your fellow survivors, wait for rescue and/or falter to panic. A second scenario in the game takes place at an isolated psychiatric hospital situated on an island. Again, four individuals interact with each other. A regular edition is priced at Y6800 while an LE includes an artbook and music CD at Y8800. 
Isayoi Renka Kamifurusato (PS2)
   A jaded young artist returns to his hometown after traveling abroad and finds inspiration in the dainty girls who live there. Painting portraits of the women that he meets, the artist eventually discovers that "there's no place like home" when potential love blossoms.
Orange Pocket: Root (DC, PS2)
   High school is the setting for romance where 10 affable female students whose hair colors range from orange to violet to auburn are the targets of one's affection. Regular and Limited Editions of the game are scheduled for the Dreamcast (RE, LE) and Playstation 2 (RE, LE)- the Limited Edition contains a drama CD and an art booklet.
Steady X Study (PS2)
   Idea Factory seeks to revolutionize the standard romance interaction game with a new gaming system where the player is afforded much more freedom of movement, interaction and choices than what we've seen in the genre thus far. Along with the regular edition, a Limited edition bundles a 60-page artbook and a drama CD.
Cross † Channel: To All People (PS2)
   Summer vacation distances former classmates for a few months as everyone scatters to their summer jobs, vacations and other vocations. In Cross † Channel, the protagonist keeps in touch with his cohorts (the female ones, anyway) by broadcasting messages to them by way of a newly crafted radio antenna. Will long distance love blossom with the help of newfangled technology? Maybe... A regular edition includes just the game but a Limited Edition includes an art booklet and drama CD. Sound familiar?

  NEWS Import Outlook - Shipping Wednesday-Thursday
   Normalcy returns to the import market this week with 25+ new releases scheduled for shipping. We'll skip the Japanese localizations of USA games (Harry Potter, Sims, Terminator), most of the budget re-releases and others that simply won't sell in the USA. That leaves us with eleven new imports which are expected in the next few days.
  
   In a few cases, we will stock both Asian and Japanese versions. If you have a preference for either version and have not already contacted us, please feel free to notify our company and we will set your preference.
