Izumo

Izumo Telephone Card Samples

  DC Izumo - Shipping Today

Hikaru, a student at the Izumo school of Bushido, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl. One day while investigating a school building that was featured in his dream, Hikaru discovers a secret room and checks it out. Before long however, an earthquake shakes his world upside down. Hikaru cautiously emerges from the tumult, to find the world changed...

Izumo plays similarly to interactive romance games but with RPG elements thrown into the mix for a different wrinkle on the interaction genre. Talking to classmates gleans information from them as well as primes them for recruitment into your party. When exploring the world, players may gather materia crystals which are the source of magic in the world if Izumo. Collect enough crystals and magical spells and powers become available to your little army of adventurers. Interaction with classmates will allow one to recruit them to fight on 3-D battlefields. In addition to physical attacks, magical blasts may also be rendered to attack enemies. Izumo features fairly linear adventuring but the storylines of the various girls are somewhat interesting and multiple endings give good replay value.

Fan favorite Kazue Yamamoto of Studio E-Go contributes quality artistic renderings to Izumo after stints in Castle Fantasia, My Fair Angel and others. Detailed images and animations provide a high aesthetic quality to the game while the music and sound effects are also very well done. Originally released on the Japanese PC, the Dreamcast version features new artwork, full voice action for the characters and a gallery mode. The first production of every copy includes 1 telephone card out of 20 possible types which feature the ten girls from the game.

Wind Repackage

DC Wind ~ A Breath of Heart Repackage - Shipping Today

Romance wafts in the air when six maidens in school sailor uniforms are targeted for your dating skills. Taking place at a typical Japanese high school, players attempt to meet up with girls at opportune times to talk them up and aim for some more quality time together. Familiarity breeds fondness but say the wrong things and your chances at love may be relegated to the doghouse or worse.

Improving on the PC original, a new scenario has been added to the Dreamcast version along with alternative endings for the girls. Updated cinemas and graphical tweaks are also apparent along with a new theme song that was recorded especially for the Dreamcast conversion.

The special Repackage version of Wind ~ A Breath of Heart includes a new drama CD packaged with the game in updated packaging which is like a double-thick DVD set. Two plastic DVD-size cases are bound inside a cardboard slip case. One of the DVD cases holds the game CD and a music CD while the second DVD case contains a set of cardboard standees which may be punched out and then assembled for display.

Pokemon Fire Red

Pokemon Leaf Green

GBA Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green - Shipping Today

Everything old is new again when the first two Pokemon games are revamped and re-released again, enhanced with GBA shininess. The year was 1996 when the original Pokemon Red and Green games debuted in Japan and made a mighty splash. Although enjoyable, the graphics were simplistic and monochromatic. Less than a month into 2004, Nintendo splashes color onto the two classic Pokemon games and bundles a wireless adapter which links up to 5 players in your local area. Engage in head-to-head Pokebattles, trade data and talk to pals by way of Pokelinkage.

Upon starting the game, players walk through a set of instructions which detail the functions of the GBA buttons and meet the Pokemon professor. A male or female protagonist may be chosen at the outset and a rival is thrown into the mix. Before leaving town and venturing forth, players meet the professor at the laboratory and choose one of three possible Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle) to join them in their travels.
Pokemon data may be exchanged with Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire while the game will also link with Pokemon Colosseum on the Gamecube. The wireless adapter is small and fits with the cart inside normal packaging.

Exciting Pro Wrestling 5

PS2 Exciting Pro Wrestling 5 Limited Edition - Shipping Today

Heroes and villains from the WWE come together once again for another battle royale where the operative phrases are "Smack Down," "Ready to Rumble," and "Shut Your Mouth." Or something like that. Although WWE Smackdown was released nearly a year ago, the Japanese version saw less urgency, especially since Japanese wrestling fans are generally more into puroresu and the local fare. Fifty five personalities are featured in EPW5 including such bruisers as Chris Jericho, Nikolai Volkoff, Goldberg, Big Show, Scott Steiner, Brock Lesnar, and many more. The entire clan McMahon from Vince to Stephanie also pull their weight inside the ring.
New to the series is a story mode scripted by WWE writers which take each superstar on a path of retribution, vengeance and other dramas that only the world of wrestling could contrive. Flashy presentation, versatile cameras and the roar of the crowd all help to bring the excitement of WWE wrestling to the PS2.
The first production limited edition of EPW5 includes a bonus WWE special edition DVD which checks out wrestling matches, mirth and macho men from Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment. The next big thing from the WWE, Brock Lesnar, is given good coverage in the DVD.

Rhapsody of Zephyr

PS2 Rhapsody of Zephyr - Shipping Today

Originally distributed in Korea by publisher Softmax and later localized for the Japanese market, Rhapsody of Zephyr tells a familiar tale of an overbearing Empire dubbed Dominion versus a rebel force called the Zephyr Falcons. Players take control of a knight named Cyrano Bernstein who was unjustly imprisoned by the Empire. During his stint behind bars, Cyrano befriends a god named Deimos who reveals the location of a powerful weapon called the Ashura sword. When Cyrano is freed from prison by the Zephyr Knights, he vows to help their cause by finding the Ashura sword and using his newfound power to topple the evil Empire.

A tactical strategy game at heart, Rhapsody of Zephyr pits player controlled characters against enemies on a grid laced battlefield. Choose rudimentary directions such as move, attack, and magic in order to wage war and defeat foes. An interesting system developed by Softmax imparts stats to individual weapons that are used in the game. Abuse of a weapon invariably blunts its effectiveness and blows from an enemy may destroy it entirely. This wrinkle adds a new dimension of strategy and "resource allocation" to the game.
The first limited edition of Rhapsody of Zephyr includes a bonus Premium Soundtrack CD which contains 42 tracks and BGM samples from the game.

Shikigami no Shiro 2

PS2 Shikigami no Shiro 2 - Shipping Today

A familiar cast of characters, vertical shooting action, coin collecting and frenzied firepower (from both sides) appear to be the hallmarks of Shikigami 2. Seven characters are available for the choosing at the outset of the game with five returnees and two newbies joining the fold.
To keep things interesting, a scoring multiplier called the Tension Bonus System  allows the leveling up of score by way of close proximity to enemy bullets. Get grazed by buckshot and marvel as your points are multiplied by up to 8X depending on how skillful you are at deftly maneuvering and getting buzzed by oncoming fire. Near misses will also power up your weapon systems with a brief jolt. The Tension System wrinkles the gameplay in such a way as to behoove one to avoid but also draw towards bullets. Quite a conundrum.
A standard vulcan shot, a screen clearing bomb and a charge-up shot are available to each character. Holding down the fire button for a few seconds collects enough firepower for the charge-up shot. Connecting an enemy ship with a charge-up blast will force it to release a bounty of power-up coins.

A limited edition which includes a bonus witch figure is also available today.

SMT3 Nocturne Maniacs

PS2 Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne Maniacs - Shipping

Nearly a year after the Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne wowed fans and bowed them over with a creation story and the ability to guide the direction of a new world, a "Maniacs" version makes it way to market to impress players once again. Megami Maniacs is essentially the original SMT3 game but updated and enhanced with new map areas to explore, new characters, and new scenario segments. Spelunk labyrinthine dungeons and encounter demon-folk and other monsters with whom to engage, fight or recruit. Then there's Dante of Devil May Cry fame who crosses over from Capcom's camp and lodges himself in an Atlus title. Dante joins the player as a sort of bodyguard or guardian angel of sorts who shadows the player through the game. When Dante joins the party, a dramatic animation shows the demon killer leaping off a building and then landing with extreme force, guns drawn and at the ready. Gamers with demonic save-data from the original SMT3 may use it in Maniacs to continue the game with a familiar stable of helpers.
NCS also stocks a new Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne memory card today which uses the zebra-stripe design of the first Nocturne memory card although the coloring is slightly different. A carrying case and two labels are also included inside the blister pack.

Victorious Boxers 2

  PS2 Victorious Boxers 2 - Shipping Today

The road to the top of the boxing elite is open once again for contenders and pretenders to take a chance at. Main character Makunouchi Ippo is joined by 40 fellow cast members including Aoki Masaru, Kimura Tatsuya, Sendo Takeshi, Ichiro Miyata, Ryuichi Hayami, and many more. Game modes upon starting the game consist of "Practice Mode," "Story Mode," and "Gallery Mode" where character portraits may be unlocked by performing well in the game. The "Boxer's Road" mode aka the boxer creation function is extremely detailed and we're unsure if players will appreciate the level of attention that went into it. Boxers may be created from scratch by choosing the body type and head to start. The head may then be adjusted by tweaking the cheeks, eyes, ears, jaw, mouth, eyebrows and colors. A boxer's weight may also be determined during the creation process which will affect the type of boxers your man will face during his career. A heavyweight will face opposing heavyweights while bantam weights will face other scrawny pugilists in their weight division.
The Story Mode is a detailed affair where the diligent boxer must train, watch his diet and go on scheduled bouts to advance his standing. The boxing action is little changed from the original with an enjoyable mix of moves and strategy to employ during the match.
