PS2 Afterburner II - Sega Ages 2500 - In Stock

In 1987, a year after the movie Top Gun stoked audiences everywhere, Yu Suzuki developed the original Afterburner game for Sega. Controlled by a relatively massive analog joystick in the coin-op cab, virtual pilots shot, locked-on, rocked, and rolled through thrilling levels and faced squadrons of enemy ships hellbent on relieving quarter droppers of all their coin. Afterburner was released in an upright arcade cabinet as well as an enclosed sit-in cab where hydraulics pumped the cab up and down like a carnival ride.
The original Afterburner featured pseudo 3-D graphics which were meant to simulate the illusion of brisk flight. The Sega Ages upgrade features true 3-D imagery where the action blows by in fast, herky jerky action. The standard F-14 Tomcat is the regulation issue jetfighter in Arcade Mode but a few other planes may be used in the other game modes. A total of 30 stages are available in Normal Mode, of which 23 are based on the original game levels and 7 are entirely new.
