PLEASE READ: The NEW SHOP is separate and distinct from the OLD SHOP. If you place an order on the OLD SHOP, you will not be able to use the NEW SHOP to check on your order and vice versa. Unfortunately, we were not able to resolve the two shop databases in order to transfer customer histories and accounts. Both shops are fully operational and capable of taking orders.

DBZ Bukuu Tougeki

GBA Dragonball Z Bukuu Tougeki - In Stock

The powerful DBZ fighters face off in a 2-D and pseudo 3-D fighting game where the fighters rotate 360° while punching, kicking and dashing at each other. The "A" and "B" buttons serve dual purposes and execute a punch or a kick depending on which way the D-pad is pressed. When two fighters are far away from each other, the screen scales outwards to show distance and depth.

Puyo Puyo Fever

GC Puyo Puyo Fever - In Stock

A new munchkin named Amitie takes over hosting and protagonist roles in the latest Puyo Puyo game. Once the game begins, the familiar Puyos rain down in groups of two. The graphics are shinier than previous incarnations and each duo of Puyos bounce like buoyant jelly once they hit the ground. New shapes include elbow Puyos, teardrop Puyos, yin/yang Puyos and big Puyos which both break up into 4 separate Puyos once they hit the ground. Sprightly sound effects and yelping voices also accompany the visual bounces for that immersive experience. On each player's gaming area, background graphics splash a little bit of color and substance to the visual simplicity. Puyo Puyo Fever adds an aptly named Fever Meter to the game which lies to the side of each gamer's window. It's made up of 7 circles which measure your Fever level and one starts filling up the Fever by offsetting your opponent's combo attacks where little transparent Puyos line up on the top portion of the screen. New opponents in the game include Klug, Rider, Oshareborns and Frankensteins. That's not a typo. Frankensteins shows up as a true challenger on stage 6 and is a duo. There's big Frankenstein and baby Frankenstein who sits in a 2-wheeled wheelbarrow... You know you're in trouble when you hear big Frankenstein grunting because mass combos are being chained on his side and a rain of hurt is about to land on your side.

Gamest Vol. 196

Back cover

ETC Magazine of the Day (MOTD) - In Stock

As we threatened last week, we're putting about 800+ different Japanese magazines and game guides up for sale over the next year or so...or until we get rid of them all. Since we won't have the time to catalog every magazine in any sort of fashion, we're just going to crack open cartons and sell what we find on a daily or near-daily update that we're calling MOTD.

Magazines and paper products have the onerous quality of being exceptionally heavy which makes storing them a burden. Magazines also take up a lot of space - space which costs roughly $32 per square foot at prevailing lease rates. After pondering our dilemma, we've decided to try and sell them off slowly. Most magazines are in new, mint, fresh condition. Many were bagged in polypropylene when they are shuffled into storage many years ago so they're clean and pretty much "straight off the newsstand."

For our first MOTD, we present Gamest Vol. 196 from June 30, 1997. Heiachi chokes a panda on the cover of the magazine and a 24-page Tekken 3 guide regales readers on the pages of the magazine. The first two pages contain an advertisement for G-Darius, followed by a short feature which checks out the game and looks at a little Darius history.

Highlights in the magazine include features on Vampire Saviour, Street Fighter III New Generation, and Virtua Fighter III. In the center and back of the magazine, there a bunch of advertisements from JAMMA board suppliers. We recognize quite a few of them as we did business back in the day but sadly, with the fragile state of the arcade resale business in Japan, many have gone by the wayside or shifted into other markets. There's a section where character sketches from Capcom's Battle Circuit are displayed and Gamest looks at the game a few pages later. A few 1-2 page articles are also included in the magazine for Sol Divide, Densha de Go!, Gals Panic S, Magical Drop 3, House of the Dead, Top Skater, and Do DonPachi. A loose Tokimeki Memorial poster is inserted in the middle of the magazine as a bonus.

We price the first MOTD at US$11 which includes shipping with USPS Media Mail + Delivery Confirmation. We have a fair amount of copies of this issue but we will mark the product link [SOLD OUT] once they're all gone. Please be mindful of that. Pricing for future MOTDs will vary depending on availability.

Kuon

NEWS Import Outlook - Shipping Wednesday, Thursday

There's a total of two new software imports expected this week or four if we count the memory cards. Five...if the System AV Selector actually makes it in this week after two delays.

From From Software, we have Kuon which is the latest horror action-adventure to hit the PS2. Players step back to 11th century Heiankyo, which was the capital of old Japan, where they play the part of a young girl searching for her family. Accompanied by a quartet of ghost hunters and exorcists, the quintet enters a haunted manse where they're soon chased by human-like creatures with lots of veins in their heads...

Next up, SCE's Dokodemo Issho: Toro to Nagare Boshi where Sony's mascot runs off on another adventure with his animal friends. A Toro 8M memory card based on the new game will also be released this week along with an early shipment of the Derby Stallion 2004 8M memory card.
Lastly, CyberGadget appears to be shipping their System AV Selector Pro this week after a couple of delays. We'll update accordingly once it arrives and post a review along with photos. ASCII and Hori used to supply them a few years back but we there's been little stock since early 2000.
