PLEASE READ: The NEW SHOP is separate and distinct from the OLD SHOP. If you place an order on the OLD SHOP, you will not be able to use the NEW SHOP to check on your order and vice versa. Unfortunately, we were not able to resolve the two shop databases in order to transfer customer histories and accounts. Both shops are fully operational and capable of taking orders.

Neo-CD Crossed Swords

ETC Sale of the Day (SOTD)

In keeping with the theme of moisture affected sale products this week, NCS presents the Neo-CD version of Crossed Swords. Looking at the picture or the larger photo available through the link, one wouldn't immediately notice anything amiss but about a year ago, moisture seeped into two full boxes of Crossed Swords and dampened the manual and spine card of each copy.

It only takes a little moisture to do damage to items that shouldn't be wet and that's what we have in this case. The games have long since dried up but the spine card and manual have little crinkles in them which are apparent when examined closely. Some look perfectly fine but we can't sell any of them as new stock any more. The shrinkwrap on some copies of the game also stick to the plastic jewel case inside but may be freed once the shrinkwrap is shifted slightly.

Each game is new and still in the original factory wrapper with cellophane pull-string. They've just been moisturized...and then dried...which cost us their full value. We have a good quantity of the game in stock and we're selling them for US$8.00 each which includes USPS Media Mail + Delivery Confirmation shipping anywhere in the contiguous USA. Order 10+ copies and we'll drop the price to US$6.50 each shipped with UPS Ground anywhere in the USA.

Super Famicom Magazine #19

ETC Magazine of the Day (MOTD)

SOLDOUT
Originally released in November 25, 1994, issue #19 of Super Famicom Magazine tempted readers with a little blurb and photo of the Playstation console which launched in Japan on December 3, 1994. Right next to it, a look at the new Saturn which preceded the Playstation on November 22, 1994. Next to the Saturn column, a tiny look at the NEC PC-FX which debuted on December 9, 1994. Pricing for the Sony and Sega machines broke at Y44,800 or about $423. The PC-FX was priced at a premium Y49,800. With the Playstation and Saturn, the entire video gaming landscape changed as 1994 came to a close. The PC-FX became an also-ran almost immediately with a lack of software support from third-party publishers and from NEC.

Game releases were still brisk for the SFC as its twilight years approached and twelve new titles were reviewed in the issue. SFC Magazine used a review style similar to Famitsu but only three reviewers pen their critiques and scores. Tsuyoshi Shikkarishinasai Taisen Pazurudama received a 7,8,6 and GP-1 Rapid Stream floundered with 5s across the board. Mother 2 received a hearty 9 but most of the other scores were middling. Despite the obvious shortcomings of many titles, pricing for every cartridge was at least Y8800 and higher. Mediocrity begat no discounts...

Features in the magazine include Dragon Quest VI, Super Donkey Kong, Chrono Trigger, and the original Front Mission. The screenshots for Chrono Trigger remind us of what an incredible game it was for its time. Flipping further, we see that in 1994, Momotaro Densetsu was only up to volume 3 (It's up to XII now on the PS2, GC) and Breath of Fire was up to Vol. 2.  A feature on Tactics Ogre also serves as a nice reminder of another great game that sprung from the humble hardware of the Super Famicom. Towards the back of the issue, game guides are offered for Dragonball Z 3, Feda: The Emblem of Justice, Jikkyou World Soccer: Perfect Eleven, and Mortal Kombat II. There's also a few pages of fan art sent in by talented readers and a lot of advertisements as the issue comes to a close.

NCS prices SFC Magazine Vol. 19 at US$9.50 which includes shipping with USPS Media Mail + Delivery Confirmation within the USA.

FFVII Redux

  ETC SOTD and MOTD Revisited

We're sold out of the Evangelion Perfect Grades (SOTD) and the Final Fantasy VII Guides (MOTD) that we posted this week but we have located one Perfect Grade and two more FFVII Guides that are different from what we posted earlier in the week. Skinny:
Evangelion Perfect Grade - [SOLD]

Similar to the EVA Perfect Grades that we put up for sale on Tuesday, this one is new and the cardboard was damaged by moisture. Dissimilar to the other ones, this one includes a manual that was wrecked by water. The pages no longer turn smoothly and are all crinkled up. Two photos are posted and we're selling this one for US$65 which includes UPS Ground shipping.
Versus Books: Final Fantasy VII - [BOTH SOLD]

We found these in a different storage box apart from the ones that we posted up yesterday. They're in very good condition but they weren't bagged and we don't consider them to be in new condition. One copy has a little tear on the upper spine and dents while the other copy has little dents on the back and front. Due to these imperfections, we're offering these for US$50 and $55 respectively shipped with UPS Ground within the contiguous USA.
