PLEASE READ: The NEW SHOP is separate and distinct from the OLD SHOP. If you place an order on the OLD SHOP, you will not be able to use the NEW SHOP to check on your order and vice versa. Unfortunately, we were not able to resolve the two shop databases in order to transfer customer histories and accounts. Both shops are fully operational and capable of taking orders.

Kuon

Trouble lurks

Dark and foreboding

  PS2 Kuon - In Stock

Step back to 11th century Heiankyo, which was the capital of old Japan before it was renamed Kyoto. Between the years 794 and 1192, Japan entered a tranquil period called the Heian Era where the aristocracy flourished and a refined court culture was established. Classical literature began in the Heian period where Chinese letters became a part of an evolving writing system and court ladies such as Murasaki Shikibu and Sei Shonagon penned novels. Such matters as proper kimono color combinations, incense judging and moon viewing became inclinations of the court culture in Heiankyo.

It is against this indolent backdrop that Kuon takes shape. A father and two daughters living near the mountains in Heiankyo are enjoying a sedate existence. One day, the father goes off to work but does not return and the two sisters go off in search for him. Their quest leads to a sprawling manse guarded by a stately door. As the two sisters approach the entrance, one girl moves ahead and hears an eerie song sung by children. She enters alone. The other sister follows but her sibling is nowhere to be seen...
A total of five main characters may be played in the game who have their own little adventures in the house although there is interplay between them at key spots in their respective storylines. If we were to judge the style of dress of every character, as was routine during the Heian period, they'd rank high with their color-coordinated kimonos and sashes. The monsters in Kuon are primarily of the human kind - or at least they used to be human. Ambulatory corpses with broken necks, distorted limbs and gaping wounds are some examples of the horrors within the mansion. Spirits are indicated by wind gusts and then there are little beetles which swarm out of crevices and eat a person from the inside. The action in Kuon moves at a measured pace and the cinemas integrate neatly with the action for a very smooth gaming experience.
The game cover may be construed in different ways but the back story to the cover is this: Two sisters are playing near a cliff and one traipses down a rope ladder which is anchored by a wooden stake. Things get a little frantic when the older sister above is surprised by a pair of spooky little girls and lets go of the stake holding the ladder. Her younger sister tumbles to the ground and breaks her neck. Although she does not die in the accident, she is paralyzed and harbors resentment against her sibling... She serves as the covergirl for Kuon while her older sister is a playable character in the game.

DBZ Action Figures

TOYS Dragonball Z Action Figures - April 2004

Manufacturer Unifive announced a set of detailed DBZ action figures which measure a mere 6cm or 2.3" tall. The detail and paint job on each figure is superb with well defined features and costumes for each hero. There's Goku, Gohan, Piccolo and the rest of the crew in attendance.

NCS expects delivery in April 2004 and pricing for each figure is set at Y480 or US$5.00 from NCS. The offer from Unifive mentions 10 types of DBZ figures and one secret character that will be randomly packaged in each factory sealed carton of 20.

Stealth Valkyrie

ETC Sale of the Day (SotD)

VF-17S Special Stealth Valkyrie
The slightly water-logged Evangelion Perfect Grade toys from yesterday were not bad. The condition of today's SotD is pretty bad. We have a full carton of VF-1S Special Stealth Valkyries that was water wrecked. Warped and strangely misshapen, all of the deleterious effects of accidental moisture on cardboard are evident on every VF-1S package. The Valkyrie toys inside are fine and in perfect condition but the packaging looks terrible.

We're unable to sell these as new so we're letting them escape at the price of US$19 which includes UPS Ground shipping anywhere within the contiguous USA. That basically breaks down to about $11 effective cost for each Valkyrie.

Versus Books Final Fantasy VII
It's not Japanese nor is it a magazine, but indulge us if only for a day. We've seen Versus' FFVII guide go for as much as US$100 and as little as US$35 in varying conditions over the past few years. They've mostly been in "Very Good" shape. It's fairly rare to find them in new condition nowadays but we've located a box of them, all bagged and boarded from 1997 or thereabouts.

We had a hard time selling them in 1997 and they all went into storage and were forgotten. We could sell them for cover price but that would be like selling Superman #1 for a quarter. Out of all the FFVII guides, the Versus book was the cream of the crop. The accolades from actual players are many.

We pondered the pricing of this thing and decided on US$75 per copy, which includes shipping with UPS 2nd Day Air. We'll ship the book packaged securely inside a double box anywhere in the contiguous USA so that it'll reach its destination in mint condition. International buyers are welcome but pricing would be US$85 which includes Global Priority Mail to most parts of the world.
