An ad featuring an old codger in the midst of an
excavation starts off today's MOTD which was originally released on July 30, 1998.
The ad covers a number of new releases including Brave
Fencer Musashiden, Hanabi Fantast and B.L.U.E. The
Playstation console also participates in the ad and we
see that is up to SCPH-7000 and was priced at Y18000.
The first feature in the magazine talks up Slayers
Royale (shipping
9/23 at Y6800) with 6 pages of screenshots and details
on the game. Next up, a preview of FFVIII which endures
for 3 pages before giving way to a
mini Square retrospective. Single screenshots for Final Fantasy
II, Final Fantasy V, Tobal 2 and Choco Dungeon are used
in the article to chronicle Square's gameography. A full
feature on Ehrgeiz examines fighting scenes and the
Tekken-esque characters in the game. A 2-page capper
checks out Square's experimental Another Mind
interactive adventure, which strayed far from
the RPG formula.
An informative article on SD Gundam G Generation
enchants readers with 10 pages of robot data,
tactical strategy, maps and even some nice sketches of the
AMA-002S, MS15-K AMX-103G mechs among others. A 4-page
spread on
Rival Schools: Legion of Heroes shows off characters,
the edit mode and game interaction sequences.
There's a spooky 4-page preview of Echo Night which
takes place aboard an ocean liner and shorter abstracts
on Evangelion Mahjong, Azito 2, and Great Peak. There
was a point when we had a few hundred copies of Great
Peak in stock...but surprisingly it sold over the years.
The article evaluates the climbers in the game and the
different routes that one may take to scale the
mountains in the game.
A
Cheats Page exposes codes and cheats for Toca racing,
Real Bout Dominated Mind, Hello Kitty Cube de Cute and
many others. To help fans further, two embedded fold-out strategy guides for Overblood 2
are included which feature detailed maps of all major areas,
possible routes, and secrets. The second guide is sealed
to avoid accidental spoilage. A fan art section spans 3 pages of amateur artwork from
readers - good stuff. As the issue comes to a close, a Super Buyer's Guide
previews Star Ocean: Second Story, Destrega, Epica Stella,
Graduation M and about 40 others with nice screenshots
for all of the games. A comprehensive schedule of upcoming
software closes out the issue. Price: US$6.50
shipped with Media Mail. |
