The Gassen Sekigahara
Superlite 2000 Vol. 47

  PS2 The Gassen Sekigahara - SP2000 Series Vol. 47

Two famous swordsmen from the Sengoku and Edo periods - Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro - take part in the mighty battle at Sekigahara circa September 15, 1600. A bit of historical background - after Toyotomi Hideyoshi died in 1998, a power struggle ensued between the Shiga and Gifu prefectures and war broke out. According to legend, Sasaki Kojiro challenged Musashi at Ganryu island in 1612. Since Kojiro's sword had a lengthier reach, Musashi battled using an oar from his boat and killed Kojiro.
The Gassen Sekigahara game plays very much like a Dynasty Warriors clone where legions of troops are battled in vast environments.
Sekigahara uses a Tates-like system where enemies may be attacked in fluid sequence. A total of seven levels await the gamer for some fairly exciting fun.

Gunslinger Girl Vol. 1

  PS2 Gunslinger Girl Vol. 1

A secretive government agency called the Social Welfare Public Service Institution puts on the charitable face of helping out the public but it has a hidden agenda. A shadowy killing arm of the government, SWPSI gathers together little orphan Angelicas, wipes their slates clean, and turns them into terminators. Lethal in their new mechanical bodies and trained with precision assassination techniques, the diminutive slayers kill without remorse as their humanity has been taken from them...
Gunslinger Girl Vol. 1 follows the 3-D action and adventures of a young girl named Henrietta who kills at the behest of the agency that has taken her in. The first production includes a bonus DVD with episodes 1-5 of the animation and a very large 32-page Official File which contains gorgeous artwork.

Photos, important moments and other good times may be stamped onto the virtual pages for posterity.

Updates in the PS2 version include a new game scenario, voice action and a new opening cinema. A
limited edition of Kokoro no Tobira which includes a bonus DVD containing artwork in a virtual photo file is also available today.

The Taxi
Superlite 2000 Vol. 48

  PS2 The Taxi - SP2000 Series Vol. 48

The big city offers plenty of opportunities for the speedy cabbie and patrons from all walks of life depend on taxis for fast passage through the concrete canyons of metropolis. Pick up riders and take them to their destinations in speedy and safe fashion to earn the big bucks. Successful trips for a succession of passengers grants bonuses which improve taxi cab acceleration, cornering and top speed - all of which gives the aggressive cabbie the ability to ferry passengers with ever greater efficiency.
At the outset of the game, players are only able to shuttle fares within the city limits but once your renown spreads, neighboring cities also become fair game for your driving skills. Daytime and nighttime fares are also available for drivers who enjoy working 24/7. Surprisingly good, for a SP2000 game.

Playstation Magazine Vol. 15
151 pages, Mint condition

  MOTD Playstation Magazine Vol. 15

An ad featuring an old codger in the midst of an excavation starts off today's MOTD which was originally released on July 30, 1998. The ad covers a number of new releases including Brave Fencer Musashiden, Hanabi Fantast and B.L.U.E. The Playstation console also participates in the ad and we see that is up to SCPH-7000 and was priced at Y18000. The first feature in the magazine talks up Slayers Royale (shipping 9/23 at Y6800) with 6 pages of screenshots and details on the game. Next up, a preview of FFVIII which endures for 3 pages before giving way to a mini Square retrospective. Single screenshots for Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy V, Tobal 2 and Choco Dungeon are used in the article to chronicle Square's gameography. A full feature on Ehrgeiz examines fighting scenes and the Tekken-esque characters in the game. A 2-page capper checks out Square's experimental Another Mind interactive adventure, which strayed far from the RPG formula.

An informative article on SD Gundam G Generation enchants readers with 10 pages of robot data, tactical strategy, maps and even some nice sketches of the AMA-002S, MS15-K AMX-103G mechs among others. A 4-page spread on Rival Schools: Legion of Heroes shows off characters, the edit mode and game interaction sequences. There's a spooky 4-page preview of Echo Night which takes place aboard an ocean liner and shorter abstracts on Evangelion Mahjong, Azito 2, and Great Peak. There was a point when we had a few hundred copies of Great Peak in stock...but surprisingly it sold over the years. The article evaluates the climbers in the game and the different routes that one may take to scale the mountains in the game.

A Cheats Page exposes codes and cheats for Toca racing, Real Bout Dominated Mind, Hello Kitty Cube de Cute and many others. To help fans further, two embedded fold-out strategy guides for Overblood 2 are included which feature detailed maps of all major areas, possible routes, and secrets. The second guide is sealed to avoid accidental spoilage. A fan art section spans 3 pages of amateur artwork from readers - good stuff. As the issue comes to a close, a Super Buyer's Guide previews Star Ocean: Second Story, Destrega, Epica Stella, Graduation M and about 40 others with nice screenshots for all of the games. A comprehensive schedule of upcoming software closes out the issue. Price: US$6.50 shipped with Media Mail.
